"My partner and I took a road trip through Washington and hiked to the summit of Mount Storm King. At the top, a flock of camp robber birds (Canada jays) appeared, bold and unbothered, happy to linger with us in exchange for a bit of bird feed. We took in the sweeping view with these unexpected companions quietly perched around us — wild, curious, and oddly at ease."
